Booth was born in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1895, the son of Frank Walworth and Marion Hendershot Booth. He received his A.B. degree from Dartmouth College in 1918 and his A.M. degree from Harvard University in 1924. Booth was an instructor of English at Dartmouth College from 1920 to 1928. He became an assistant professor in 1928 and a full professor in 1942. From 1968 to 1970 he served as the secretary of Dartmouth College Class of 1918. He died in Norwich, Vt. in 1974.
